OCTOBER GOALS

Saturday 1 October 2016

Even though September was a super fast month, I'm glad to see the back of it. September was an extremely negative month for me. My life had becoming so overwhelming and I feel I stumbled through the whole month desperately needing a break but no time to take one. Now that it's October I'm not afraid to say it - I can't wait to get my basic bitch on. Pumpkin Spiced lattes, plaid shirts, horror films, oohing and ahhing over the orange fallen leaves. October is one of my favourite times of the year. Here's what i'm hoping to do this month.

1. Practise Self Care - I feel I'm always looking after and worrying about other people that I neglect myself while doing so. September hit me like a ton of bricks and going forward, I want to invest in myself. Whether it be going a walk with my music on, doing yoga, getting stuck into a good book or have an at home spa day, I really want to learn to cut off and look after myself both mentally and physically.

2. Do Sober October - I'm not a massive drinker but I'm partial to a cocktail or two. Lately, I've been so sick of drinking. I don't enjoy it anymore, I can't stand being around drunk people and most of all, I hate wasting a day in my bed suffering from a hangover when I've got so many productive things I could be getting on with. I haven't had a drink in a few weeks and i've no intention to have one any time soon so I hope to keep the momentum going.

3. Save - As a self confessed shopaholic and impulse buyer, saving money is one thing that's never on my agenda. However, with Christmas just around the corner (yes, I said the dreaded C word) I want to save some cash so I'm not left broke in January. I've started book marking some great money saving tips, set up a savings account and determined to stick to it. Wish me luck - i'll need it!

4. Up My Instagram Game - Twitter is my favourite form of social media. To me, it's where it's at but since I've started to blog again, I've realised how much I've underestimated the platform and how it's a great way to get my blog posts out there. On my GA stats, I see a fair bit of traffic coming from Instagram so I want to spend more time on it and now I've perfected my photography, keep with a theme. If you're not following me already, you can do here.

These are all relatively small goals but I find each and everyone so important, particularly point one. It's been a whirlwind of a month and I'm going into October a little uncertain of what it may bring but i'm hoping for lots of positivity, making sure I put myself first and learning to appreciate the little things in life. What goals do you have for October? Do you have any good links to some self care posts? As always, I'd love to hear from you below or you can tweet/IG me at @whatamydidblog!

  2. Self care is so important! I notice myself beginning to get stressed out an overwhelmed if I'm doing so much that I don't have time for myself. It really is very important. Saving is a big thing of mine especially in this half of the year when you need to grab those presents. I'm trying to do it early enough so I'm not spending a whole paycheck by December. Great list and best of luck to you for October! xo

    1. I know that exact feeling Jay, pushing on when you know you should be taking a step back is one of my biggest downfalls. Likewise - the sooner I have presents organised, the more content I'll be. Thank you and good luck with your October goals too - hope you have a fab month xx

  7. Can't believe you've been back since September and I'm only just popping over now. Sorry I've been so crap lol! On the plus though I'm so glad to see you blogging again. I'm sorry September wasn't great for you, hopefully October will be a better month. I can certainly relate on the drinking platform. I don't really drink much anymore. Don't get me wrong if I'm out for a meal or fancy a glass of wine at home I will do. But unlike my 18 year old self, I never drink to get drunk anymore. There's no way I'm going back to those day long hangovers!! To be honest I can quite easily go weeks without even thinking about it.
    Love the goals, very realistic.

    Love Hannah xx
