CURRENT BEAUTY FAVOURITES #1

Sunday 11 June 2017

It's been a minute since I done a beauty favourites post on my blog and I'm keen that although I'm changing direction, that these style of posts are still included because 1. I'm a beauty product hoarder and 2. I love having a mooch at favourite posts to see what everyone else is using. On a lil side note before I get into what I've been loving, I've just invested in the much loved by bloggers 45mm lens for the Olympus Pen that I throw my hands up and admit, thought was overrated but YOUR GAL WAS WRONG. These images were taken using it and I'm super, duper impressed by the quality. I'm planning to do either a post or YT video on the EPL-8 so stay tuned! Now onto the products I've been reaching for lately ..

Firstly, I've been head over heels for Pillow Talk, the iconic lipstick from the Matte Revolution range by the queen of make-up, Charlotte Tilbury. I actually won this in a giveaway (how bloomin' jammy was that?) and it's become a firm favourite in my lipstick collection. It's a stunning nude pink shade that adds a sutble, natural pop of colour and the matte formula makes my pout look that little bit fuller. I love Charlotte Tilbury products and I've yet to be disappointed by anything I've tried from her range. The packaging is super elegant and although these aren't the cheapest lipsticks out there, in my opinion, they are worth it.

2017 has been a year of lots of discovery but it also marks the start of my love affair with Kiehls. From their Midnight Recovery Concentrate to their Avocado Eye Cream, their products have replaced helluva lot of staples in my routine and my skin has never looked better. Their Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque has got to hands down, be the best mask I've ever used. Yep, bold claim but I stand by it. It's branded as an 'instant facial' and promises to brighten and energise fatigued skin and it does exactly what it does on the tin. My skin always looks glowing after using this and my skin feels oh so smooth. A little bit goes a long way as it has a pretty thick consistency that smells AMAZING. This is the product my skin has been longing for.

If there is one thing I don't really 'indulge' in from a beauty point of view, it's haircare because I am notoriously lazy when it comes to caring for my mane. I have thick hair that is unruly and rather than take the time to give it the TLC it needs, I tie it up and neglect it. Since going blonde, which FYI is such hard work - hats off to all you gals with bleached locks out there because it's SO much damn maintenance, I haven't been able to ignore the condition of my hair. My hairdresser recommended using Olaplex Number 3 once a week and I've seen a serious improvement to my hairs overall condition. Despite it's hefty price tag and seriously small bottle, you only need a tiny amount which you use on damp hair before you shampoo and condition your locks and it's seriously impressive. My hair is shiny, it's so much more manageable and because of how much it has transformed the latter, I make more of an effort now to style my hair than default to my usual messy bun head. It's a real game changer.

With Summer, or in Scottish terms - our very few days of sunshine, on the horizon, I'm looking forward to trying some new products over these next few months so I'd love to hear what you've been loving below or as always, you can tweet/IG me at @whatamydid. Thanks for reading!
