Mirror Tray - eBay / Flowers - The Range / Room Spray - Poundland
Since fleeing the nest, my existing love for interiors has grown. I'm constantly searching for new home ideas on Pinterest, having a good mooch on eBay at what bargains are to be had and switching buying shoes to candles and other cosy home pieces. Our home is white and grey throughout, with the exception of our kitchen and bathroom. The thing I love most about the colour palette is that everything looks so clean. You can also add in a splash of colour at anytime for different seasons - an advantage that I love, especially at this time of year. The one thing about moving out is that you don't realise how expensive things really are. I remember phoning my mum, baffled in the middle of Tesco, because I couldn't believe how expensive tins of tuna where - sad but true. The same comes with your home; getting it decorated is easy but making it a home is much harder. It's the little details that bring comfort, make it cosy and add those little touches that make your house different. I'm by no means an interior design expert but I thought I'd share some home finds that I love - most of which are bargains.
One of my favourite finds is this Mirrored Vintage Style Trinket Tray that I found on eBay for £9. I'd seen lots of these in homeware stores but the prices where ridiculously expensive. It's an ideal size, not too big or small - perfect for adding something to decorate your coffee or console table. I normally put faux flowers like these ones from the range and add a candle to make for a pretty, feminine touch to the room. I've also included on this, this gorgeous Clean Linen Room Spray that I found in Poundland. It's not overpowering or heavily scented, given the price I wasn't expecting it to, however it does help freshen your room up and does linger for a couple of hours.
Candle - B&M / Mirrored Bedside Table - eBay / Wallpaper - Debenhams
I'm a massive candle hoarder. I must have around 20 scattered around the house or in a cupboard. My weakness used to be buying jackets, now it's buying scented candles. One thing I don't do though, is shell out on these. I like Jo Malone candles but it's literally like watching your money burn. The high street offers a range of amazing scents for every season. I'm obsessing over this giaaaant Winter Frost one from B&M and it was only £3.99. The quality of their candles are amazing for the cost and this one is soooo strong. Plus I can't resist a bit of glitter. These bedside tables are my pride and joy and happen to be the best bargain I got while home shopping. I've always loved mirrored furniture but I didn't realise until I began shopping for some that it's SO EXPENSIVE. Seriously. The average price I was finding for one was £120. I managed to find these brand new ones on eBay for £67 - I practically got two for the price of one from the high street. I was over the moon. They arrived so quickly and I just love the touch they add to our bedroom. To break up the white walls, we went for this gorgeous paper from Debenhams which is normally always on sale for £14 instead of £20 per roll. Keep an eye out!
Another cost I underestimated was the cost of good quality bedding. The Range, B&M and most supermarkets have great bedding options but I wanted to have one higher thread count, stand out set. Any excuse to shop at West Elm. West Elm is one of my favourite homeware brands and has been since I visited LA and spent a good two hours oooohing and ahhhhing in Willams-Sonoma. HOME DECOR HEAVEN. West Elm have a great range of modern, good quality, stylish homeware suited to all tastes. I manage to bag this silver star bedding while it was on sale from £120 to £60. Still a hefty price tag for a duvet set but it's so incredibly cosy. The quality is of an amazing standard and i love the detail on the cover. I paired this with this group of cushions from the range that came all in at £10.
At this time of year, there is nothing better than snuggling up on the sofa on a cold winters night - you can't beat it! I bought these cushions from ASDA to add an 'autumnal' vibe to the room and break up the grey and white with a splash of orange. It's so fitting for this season and it's good way to refresh your furniture. Another new pick up was these mugs from ASDA too - £12 for a set of 6 and aren't they so festive? I bought some Toffee Nut Latte sachets so I can't wait to whip one up and have it in these new mugs.
There we have it! I didn't want to do a long post on this and just wanted to show off the finer details. I love this time of year and I'm so excited for December to come around and put the tree up - expect a festive decor post nearer the time! What do you think of these items? Have you found any home bargains lately? As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts below or you can tweet/IG me at @whatamydid. Thanks for reading!
